In my career I worked as
a programmer a webmaster a web application creator a DB designer & administrator an IT specialist an amateur graphic designer.

Creating websites, databases, applications, data & graphic proccessing gives me satisfaction. Finding new challenges, solving problems and exploring for possible solutions, developing not only myself personally but also professionally by giving the best of myself is what I am fond of.
My career throughout past 6 years was always project-oriented. I developed many projects including comercial, web and research applications using variety of technologies. Sometimes it was not always easy as I needed to learn new things from a scratch, but I always adapt to new circumstances by solving arising problems, fast-learning new technologies.
I always do my best and I never give up.

    After I ended my last job I was not wasting my time as I

    • was preparing for my move to New Zealand,
    • applied for a Working Holiday visa,
    • passed IELTS exam with a result of 7.0 out of 9.0 (listening: 7.5 Reading: 7.5 Writing: 6.5 Speaking: 6.5) which is level C1 according to IELTS,
    • started to learn JAVA from Cay S. Horstmann and Gary Cornell's books
    • from April to the end of May my wife and I were traveling around Asia, Australia to New Zealand,
    • redesigned template of NCU SPIE & OSA Student Chapter's website to a responsive one without using JavaScript apart from a gallery part of the page,
    • begun learning Symfony 3.

    This job involved at least two days of a week coming to company's premises to provide strong IT service to all employees in need, including:

    • choosing, buying, setting-up new equipment,
    • repairing hardware: desktops, laptops, printers, phones, routers, switches and other electronic equipment,
    • solving network problems with routers, switches and final user’s computers,
    • accelerating computer's work, maintaining safety of all computers by installing newest version of security applications,
    • helping with issues in variety of versions of Windows OS (Windows XP>) and MS Office suite (including Office 2007> in Word, Excel, Outlook and Skype), CRM used by companies and office productivity suite issues.

    Moreover, I administrated Windows Server 2012 and MS SQL Server 2012 by:

    • creating user accounts, giving access to particular catalogues to users,
    • giving reports about a state of databases, creating procedures to gather and analyze data from DBs.

    To fulfill my duties I used SRS, Profiler, Service Manager and Management Studio.

    From time to time I worked after hours and on weekends as it was the only time when other employees did not work. In case of urgent situations I was solving issues either remotely or by going to the company’s premises directly.

    I consider this project as the one of the most significant one in my career. I was hired to create a fully responsive web application CRM system for sales management purposes with a built-in mail module and an advance system of relations between modules of Clients, Activities, Mails and Sales.

    It was a challenging project because I worked on this task in my home, managing by myself time, resources and planning whole project. I usually programmed whole day, but there were days when I needed to take a break from my responsibilities to take a deep breath and rest but it never delayed the project as I am punctual and organized person. Once in a while I had a meeting with my boss during which we talked about progress of my work.

    Application was created in PHP & MySQL.

    The final version of application had features like:

    I moved to France for six months with my wife because of her project and as I finished my previous job. Because of my lack of knowledge of French at that time I could not find a job. Therefore, I spent that time on learning French at a language course, reading books about HTML5, JavaScript and creating simple mobile games using these technologies and administration of NCU SPIE & OSA Student Chapter website.

    I created a new extension for saving data from measurements using C++/CLI and LabVIEW in OBIG team which later was used in NCBiR project.

    It was the first time I used C++/CLI but I learnt it very fast and was able to successfully finish the project.

    I was asked to create a segmentation algorithm for images of contact lenses and calculate properties of these objects, i.e. thickness. Final application was made using Silverlight and LabVIEW.

    Results of my and other's people work were presented during SPIE Photonics West conference in 2014. Presentation title was "Swept source optical coherence tomography for soft contact lens measurements".

    This is another one of the most relevant job I have got so far.

    Me and two other programmers were creating big ERP, work- and document-flow as well as resource and energy management applications.
    At the beginning I was hired to develop Silverlight application for data flow purposes.
    All other applications on demand I created in MS Access and VBA as an interface, MySQL as a database.

    Especially challenging was the last project during which we made two applications for two big international companies, Elana and Torsoft, because of the lack of workforce and a very strict and short timetable:

    • the first application for production and resource management,
    • the other one for energy production and costs management.

    In the last two weeks of the project I worked for ~11 hours a day but with determination, organizational skills and hard work my team and I did the job.

    What is more, I was helping my boss during implementation of our systems in two big companies which was fairly new experience to me. Because I am a polite, helpful and open person, who is able to present his knowledge and experience to others I was able to help contractor's employees working with their new system and everything went well in the process,

    We finished the project with a great success but it was a very hard time for me. Still, I enjoyed the possibility to create such big projects, I really liked having contact with final users by obtaining their opinions and sharing my knowledge with them.

    I consider this project as the most important one in my career not only because it was the first one I have ever made, but also because it made me who I am today - a web developer, a programmer, a database designer and administrator.

    F.H. MIM is my parents' company. I worked there to get on with resource management and to see how small company works from inside. I needed this knowledge because of my MSc degree thesis project to create an administration panel for a warehouse with PHP and MySQL.

    I confronted dozens challenges during the process of creating the application. I had not known PHP before, I did not have experience with CSS and designing and my knowledge of designing databases and developing applications using MySQL was weak. But I had a clear goal ahead of me which I wanted to accomplish. Strength of character, dedication, always trying to do my best were the skills which made it possible to finish the project and almost immediately after that I was able to obtain a job in ADOP.

    Business Process Support Department Employer: Nestle Used technologies: MS Access, SQL, VBA, MS Excel Type of contract: a contract for a specific task Ending cause: very low salary (~80EUR/month), started my MSc project

    I worked in a Polish department of Nestle in Torun in Business Process Support Department.

    My main duties were to administer a department's local database containing information about sales, contractors, products etc. and calculate reports. Apart from that, I created a script for automatic correction of contractor's data inside the DB with SAP, MS Access, MS Excel and VBA. I needed to analyze existing big dataset (over 300 thousands rows), to find and correct details or remove duplicated companies from it. Data was full of empty fields or wrong information about them. With a special care and keen eye for details, analytic mind and experience in SQL querying I finished the job.

    During my MSc degree studies I decided to get my first job in IT. I started with an internship in a small 3-month project for Inter-tel company.

    INTER-TEL uses MS Excel files as a main documents to store forms with information about their services. Depending on the type of service the forms looked slightly different, but also they can have different fields in the same type of service by removing unused fields and/or adding a new type of information.

    The idea was to create an application which reads MS Excel files with forms, moves all data to the database and recreates MS Excel forms in MS Access by automatic generation of forms using VBA.

Almost till the end of my engineering studies I did not know what I wanted to do in my future life until I finished a course about MS Office during which I created a databse with SQL. I enjoyed this so much because it was very creative, I knew there are milions possibilitiesto where databases can be used for and I felt that with creating, designing and administrating databases there cannnot be any place for boredom as there were so many things to learn. At that moment I decided that I want to do something from a scratch therefore I suggested my own idea to my supervisor for a project. Because my parents have a small company, I proposed a topic of creating an administration panel for a warehouse.

I confronted dozens challenges during the process of creating the application. I had not known PHP before, I did not have experience with CSS and designing and my knowledge of designing databases and developing applications using MySQL was weak. But I had a clear goal ahead of me which I wanted to accomplish.

System included the following:

  • creating new products, producers, orders (in & out), customers,
  • every product can be described by any feature and category previously created in the system,
  • creating reports of day-to-day sales and purchases in specified category/product/producer/client and then export them to PDF file,
  • possibility to print invoices,
  • whole panel was created to be the admin panel of online shop, but there was no time to create client side website.

Nicolaus Copernicus University in Torun

Thesis: Set-up for electroluminescence measurements
2006-10 - 2010-02

My task was to build an application which measures electroluminescence phenomenon. Results of this project (an application and a measurement setup) are commonly used by students of my Faculty.

From this very project I learnt LabVIEW which I used in my future career during my collaboration with Nicolaus Copernicus University Faculty of Physics and an OBIG research group a few years later.

Photography

I consider myself an amateur photographer and graphic designer.

I've created 3 event logos, posters and flyers which can be viewed in Portfolio Graphics section.

I never leave my camera behind when I travel so I do not miss a chance to capture a moment, especially a beautiful panoramic views.
I recommend my Galleries section to see beautiful views.

I also mamipulate with images to make them look better, e.g. by erasing unwanted things from them, correcting colors and using filters. See example image below, more in Portfolio Graphics section and here.

Management

During my Master's Degree studies I was helping my mother in her company. I was learning how a small company works. I used learnt knowledge in my Master's Degree application called Administration panel for warehouse management.

This experience also helped me in my next jobs and taught me how to manage time, resources, money and small business.

In 2012/2013 I was a vice-president of NCU OSA Student Chapter. During this time I organized two conferences (OPTO Meeting 2013 and IONS-14 / Torun) a competition (more about it in a report of OPTO Meeting & IONS-14) and educational trips for children. You can read more about those activities in other sections of this page.

During academic year 2013/2014 I was the president of the same organization. That year my colleagues and I organized three competitions and educational trips.

During those 2 years I learnt how to organize and manage big events and how to manage human resources.

Organizing

In 2013 as a vice-president of NCU OSA Student Chapter my wife and I organized two big international conferences at Nicolaus Copernicus University Faculty of Physics:

We were managing a small group of people (3 persons). Even with such a small group of people (including us) we were able to organize two four-day events for about 80 participants plus 15 guests, during which we arranged social meetings, coffee-breaks, lunches, trips, competitions, lab-tours, workshops and many more.

At the beginning we didn't have any resources and money, but at the end we had enough to host all people and had patronage of such companies like:

Both events turned out to be a great success. You can read about them in our final report.

2013 & 2014 was a year when our Faculty chapters organized two tournaments of Khet 2.0 with official support from game's creators.

First took place during OPTO Meeting 2013 & IONS-14 / Torun conferences. You can read our official report about our Khet 2.0 tournament.

The second one was organized in winter on 26th February 2014.

Taking part

During OPTO Meeting 2013 & IONS-14 / Torun conferences I also took part in organizing a very creative event which was "Optical Hare and Hounds" - a city game for our participants.

More about this edition of the game can be read in our conferences report.

After a great success of aformentioned game we decided to organize a 2nd edition - "Scavenger Hunt" - for all residents of our city, Torun.

More than 100 people signed up to play our game. Preparation took us a lot of time, stress and strength, but we were extremely happy and satisfied with final result of our game and so did participants!

Our chapter takes part in many actions & events. We mostly teach young people aged from kindergarten-level age to high-school teenagers that physics is fun!

We do so by organizing workshops, travels, festivals, competitions, etc..

I took part in many actions of this kind and had fun doing it.

Traveling

Even if I consider myself as a stay-at-home person I like travelling very much!

I love seeing new places, especially observing nature & changes of human history. During my adventures I always try to capture images of the world around me with my camera so when I come back to them I can recall those interesting places I've been to.
